Patriarch Kirill pays tribute to Putin

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church has paid tribute to President Vladimir Putin on his 62nd birthday.

“For decades now, you have been working selflessly and productively in high-ranking posts, including the post of head of state, and your work has already become an integral part of our country’s history,” said Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, according to an Interfax report.

“I would like to express my special appreciation to you for taking care of the spiritual well-being of our people, as well as for your constant attention to the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church,” he added. “The moral foundations of social life continue to grow stronger today.”
