CWN - The Catholic bishops of Syria have issued a plea to world leaders to stop sending weapons into the war-torn country, the Fides news service reports.
“The powers of the world must know that it certainly does not help peace if they continue to send weapons here,” the bishops said after concluding their autumn assembly in Damascus this week.
The bishops encouraged the faithful to remain in Syria, but acknowledged that they understanding the suffering of their people and the impulse to find a better life elsewhere.
