CWN - For the first time, the Bible has been translated into Farsi (modern Persian), the official language of Iran and Afghanistan.
The translation, which took 18 years, was undertaken by Elam Ministries, which is devoted to the spread of Christianity in Iran, and Wycliffe Bible Translators. L’Osservatore Romano reported that at the time of the Islamic Revolution (1979), there were “no more than 500” Christians in Iran-- a number, according to the Vatican newspaper, has soared in the last 35 years to approximately 370,000.
