CWN - Police who were assigned to guard a Coptic church in Cairo fled before a recent attack, according to an AsiaNews report.
“Eye-witnesses of the al-Warraq attack confirm that despite numerous distress calls, police and ambulances only arrived on the scene two hours after the shooting,” the report added.
“The blood shed by innocents is never in vain in the eyes of God and the Church,” a Coptic Orthodox bishop preached during the funeral liturgy for an 8-year-old victim. “Those responsible for this act delude themselves if they think they will stop us from attending church. After this incident, our community has gained more strength, thanks to the sacrifice of our martyrs.”
