CWN - “We need more than words now, we need concrete actions,” an Iraqi archbishop told Vatican Radio.
Archbishop Amel Nona of Mosul confirmed that Christians have been driven out of the city, with Islamic militants spray-painting their homes with the Arabic letter “N,” for “Nazarene,” thus marking them for looting. That, the archbishop said, “is what is going on right now on the ground.”
The Christians of Mosul, driven from their homes, have scattered all over the region, Archbishop Nona said. Speaking from the Nineveh plains, where many families have found temporary refuge, he issued a plea for concrete help on behalf of “those families who have left everything.”
The archbishop expressed gratitude for a mounting international Twitter campaign, expressing solidarity with the Christians of Iraq, with the hashtag #WeAreN.
