CWN - Five months after the Russian annexation of Crimea, the region’s leading Catholic prelate said that Catholics are not suffering persecution, though the situation is tenuous.
“In Crimea the situation is rather calm,” said Bishop Bronislaw Bernacki, the Roman rite bishop of Odessa-Simferopol, according to a report from the Religious Information Service of Ukraine.
“Russian occupants do not touch the Catholics, while they think [about] what to do with them,” he added, noting that his Polish-born auxiliary bishop is permitted at present to leave and reenter the region.
