CWN - Eastern patriarchs are meeting in Lebanon to draft an appeal to the world on behalf of suffering Christians in Iraq and Syria.

The meeting of the patriarchs is taking place in Bkerke, at the headquarters of the Maronite Catholic Church. The summit follows soon after Church leaders visited Iraqi Kurdistan, to meet with the Christians who have been driven from their homes by the advancing Islamic State. (See today’s separate CWN news story.)

The Eastern prelates have invited ambassadors from many different countries to participate in their meeting, searching for ways to save lives, stop bloodshed, and preserve the Christian presence in Iraq and Syria.
