CWN - A Chaldean Catholic prelate who governs two Iranian dioceses said that the current situation of Christians in the Middle East is reminiscent of the early days of Islam.
“I would say Arab Winter – there’s no Spring,” Archbishop Thomas Meram told Vatican Radio. “Everything is fire, killing, bombarding, from Libya to Syria to Iraq to Yemen, to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain… it’s not a spring. It’s going back 1,400 years ago (to the origins of Islam).”
“Like our Chaldean Church in Mosul for two thousand years – there were Christians (there),” he added. “ We have a history there. But now it’s completely (wiped out) – no history. Everything is destroyed.”
